Ishmail Wainright posts a triple double to headline day 6 of AfroBasket

Four AfroBasket 2021 matches wrapped up today. Senegal (3-0) dismantled Cameroon (0-3) 98-65 to finish first in Group D and advance straight into the quarter-finals.

Atlanta Hawks' center Gorgui Dieng led Senegal with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal, and 25 PIR over 19 minutes. FC Barcelona's prospect Brancou Badio added 16 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 7 turnovers, and 16 PIR.

Senegal is coached by the retired basketball player Boniface N'Dong who represented teams like Barcelona, Unicaja Malaga, Galatasaray, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Ibrahima Faye added 13 points, Maurice Ndour supplied 4. Pierria Henry did not appear on the floor in this game.

Another Group D game, where South Sudan (2-1) edged out Uganda (1-2) 88-86, was much more competitive.

Toronto Raptors rookie Ishmail Wainright exploded for 22 points (2/11 2PT, 5/8 3PT, 3/4 FT), 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals, and 30 PIR for Uganda. However, the forward committed his fifth personal foul with a second left, allowing Mathiang Mauot Muo to solidify a close two-point victory for South Sudan.

Two matches of Group C also came to a close. Ivory Coast (3-0) beat Nigeria (2-1) 77-68, while Kenya took care of Mali 72-66.
