FC Bayern Munich (6-7) sneaked past LDCL ASVEL Villeurbanne (7-7) 73-65 (12-20, 27-18, 19-16, 15-11) to recover after the nail-biting loss against CSKA Moscow last week.

ASVEL reduced their deficit to just one point in the mid-fourth quarter (63-64). However, Deshaun Thomas and Augustine Rubit scored two two-pointers in a row to give their team a tangible 5-point lead (68-63) with 3:52 to go. The same Augustine Rubit extended successful Bayern's stretch, draining a duo (70-63).

Nick Weiler-Babb added another two-pointer, this time, with a foul (73-63), while 1:35 were left on the clock. The German powerhouse got the important stop and sealed the deal.

Augustine Rubit was very efficient for Bayern, posting a double-double with 19 points (8/13 2PT, 0/1 3PT, 3/3 FT), 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 turnovers, 5 drawn fouls, and 24 PIR.

"We needed to bounce back after a tough loss in Russia. It felt like we gave that game away and we needed to get back on track. So we came out and fought. I think we played tough. Especially the franchise player Lucic. We held a team to 65 – usually, if you do that, you win games,” Rubit spoke post-game.

Vladimir Lucic added 18 points (4/6 2PT, 2/4 3PT, 4/5 FT), 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 4 drawn fouls, and 21 PIR.

"We had two very bad days after the injury of Hilliard, something that I felt my team was overwhelmed by with the sadness of the situation because Darrun was blooming. We responded as a team, we wanted to put together a great game in order to win. All our thoughts are for D Hill but I want to congratulate my players for a hell of an effort," commented bench boss Trinchieri.

Elie Okobo was a top scorer for ASVEL, registering 14 points (3/6 2PT, 2/7 3PT, 2/3 FT), 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 4 drawn fouls, and 17 PIR.

"It’s disappointing because we had a good start. We were right where we wanted to be, but after that, you have to give credit to Bayern. They fought, they played good defense, they attacked us really well, so congrats to them," TJ Parker said.

ASVEL opened the game strongly, being in front by 8 points in the mid-first quarter (16-8). Their lead reached the double-digit mark at the start of the second period (23-12), though, Bayern responded.

Andrea Trinchieri's squad pushed the accelerator pedal, arranging a 14-2 push to retake the game control (36-32) in their hands. Both clubs went to the locker room while the scoreboard was showing 39-38 for Bayern.

After an 8-1 spurt at the start of the second half, the German powerhouse was leading by 8 points (47-39). Their advantage reached the apex of 12 points (58-46), however, ASVEL did not raise the white flag. TJ Parker's team closed the third quarter with an 8-0 spurt (54-58), going into the final 10 minutes with a deficit of 4 points.

Bayern: Augustine Rubit 19 (12 REB), Valdimir Lucic 18 (8 REB), Corey Walden 9 (4 REB), Nick Weiler-Babb 9 (3 REB, 3 AST).
