Denver Nuggets second-year guard Markus Howard will miss six weeks with a sprained left knee.

Howard, 22, went down in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 124-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with tests revealing the injury was not as bad as originally feared, the team said Friday.

In 17 minutes of action Wednesday, Howard had 14 points while going 4 of 9 from 3-point range. It was just his second double-digit scoring effort of the season, with the previous one a season-high 21 on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings.

Howard is averaging 4.3 points in 16 games with the Nuggets this season and 3.3 points over 53 career NBA games, all with Denver. He signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets in November 2020 after going undrafted out of Marquette.
