Franz Wagner, Magic survive Doncic's triple-double to down Mavs

2022-01-31 03:10

Franz Wagner scored 18 points, including a go-ahead driving layup with 54 seconds remaining, and the host Orlando Magic (11-40) finished a successful five-game homestand with a 110-108 (23-34, 41-25, 27-29, 19-20) comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks (29-22) on Sunday night.

Trailing 110-108 with 16.8 seconds left, Dallas came out of a timeout and worked the ball to Maxi Kleber on the left wing. Kleber's 3-pointer missed with less than two seconds to go, and Reggie Bullock's long putback caromed off the rim as time expired.

Wendell Carter Jr. totaled 14 points and 14 rebounds for another double-double, helping Orlando finish the homestand with a 3-2 record. The Magic not only are on a two-game winning streak for the second time this season, but they earned consecutive home victories for the first time since February 2021.
