COVID cases have forced Maccabi Tel Aviv to push the alarm button ahead of the Israelis' EuroLeague Round 24 game against Zalgiris Kaunas.

Apart from head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos and his assistants Vassilis Geragotelis and Doron Perkins, who had tested positive over the last week, two players and as many staff members were confirmed today.

Maccabi Tel Aviv have postponed their flight to Kaunas, but are expected to travel late in the evening in order to arrive in Lithuania by midnight.

According to the Israeli Health Department guidelines, Sfairopoulos and Geragotelis could come out of isolation on Tuesday morning after two negative antigen tests. Perkins tested positive on Saturday, which means that he will remain in Tel Aviv.

According to EuroLeague rules, a team member has to show a negative COVID test result in order to return to action. Sfairopoulos is expected to have the test on Tuesday in order to catch the first flight available and coach his players against Zalgiris.

Following their home wins over Olympiakos and ALBA Berlin, Maccabi stand at 9-11 and need the win in both of their double-week games against Zalgiris and Bayern Munich to get back to the battle for a playoff ticket.
