Record: 15 international players from 12 countries highlight NBA All-Star 2022

The 71st All-Star Weekend will have a lot of international accents.

The main event - NBA All-Star Game - will feature six international All-Stars and a record-tying four international starters. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) and Nikola Jokic (Serbia) will start for Team LeBron, while Joel Embiid (Cameroon) and Andrew Wiggins (Canada) will begin the game for Team Durant.

They are joined by Team LeBron reserve Luka Doncic (Slovenia) and Team Durant reserve Rudy Gobert (France).

The Rising Stars show will include six international athletes as well: Precious Achiuwa (Nigeria), Chris Duarte (Dominican Republic), Josh Giddey (Australia), Alperen Sengun (Turkey), Franz Wagner (Germany), and Dyson Daniels (Australia).

The Skills Challenge will involve three Antetokounmpo brothers: Giannis, Thanasis, and Alex.

Eight players competing at NBA All-Star 2022 are from or have ties to Africa: Achiuwa (Nigeria), the three Antetokounmpo brothers (ties to Nigeria), Desmond Bane (ties to Nigeria), Ayo Dosunmu (ties to Nigeria), Embiid (Cameroon), and Isaac Okoro (ties to Nigeria).

The NBA All-Star Weekend 2022 will take place on February 18-20 in Cleveland.
