Maksvytis will replace the current Zalgiris head Jure Zdovc, who will finish the 2021-22 season in Kaunas.

44-year-old Maksvytis is currently also the head coach of the Lithuania national team and will begin the preparation for the upcoming EuroBasket in the summer.
