Zalgiris Kaunas will face the upcoming 2022-23 season with changes in the head coach position. According to BasketNews sources, Zalgiris reached a multi-year agreement with Kazys Maksvytis.
Maksvytis will replace the current Zalgiris head Jure Zdovc, who will finish the 2021-22 season in Kaunas.
44-year-old Maksvytis is currently also the head coach of the Lithuania national team and will begin the preparation for the upcoming EuroBasket in the summer.
Maksvytis began the season in Perm, where he was a head coach of Parma since 2019. However, the Lithuanian left the club and terminated his contract after Russia started the war on Ukraine.
Zalgiris began the 2021-22 season with Martin Schiller in charge. However, the Austrian was fired in October and replaced by Zdovc.
