Injury-thinned Milan win a hard-fought battle against Reggio Emilia

Euroleague playoffs' participant AX Armani Exchange Milan (22-5) celebrated a hard-fought victory against Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia (13-15) in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A league with the final score of 67-63 (25-15, 14-14, 15-21, 13-13).

Troy Daniels led Milan with 14 points (1/3 2PT, 4/5 3PT).

On the opposing side, Mikael Hopkins was the high-scorer for Reggio Emilia, ending with 16 points (5/7 2PT, 1/1 3PT, 3/3 FT) and 9 rebounds.

After Arturs Strautins dunk, Reggio Emilia reduced the deficit to 5 points (56-61) with 2:55 to go, but on the other end Troy Daniels drained his fourth 3-pointer and Milan regain more comfortable lead (64-56) with 2:30 remaining.

Once again Strautins scored 7 points in a row that let the hosts to trim the deficit just to 3 points (63-66) with 52 seconds left.

Strautins had a chance to tie the game, but his crucial 3-pointer was off the mark and Milan celebrated the hard-fought W.

Armani started the game better and after Troy Daniels 3-pointer build an early double-digit lead (17-7).

Such distance between both teams kept all the first half and The Italian side were leading by 10 at the half (39-29).

It was a different story in the third quarter though. Reggio Emilia went on a solid 9-0 to even the result (41-41) and the game became very close. Milan managed to keep 4 points lead after the third quarter (54-50).

Gigi Datome played his first game since March 31, he managed to score 5 points (1/2 2PT, 1/4 3PT), while playing 14 minutes.

Milan played without Sergio Rodriguez, Nicolo Melli, Malcolm Delaney and Trey Kell tonight.
