Real Madrid reportedly targeting Mario Hezonja

Real Madrid have Mario Hezonja as one of the main targets to bolster the roster, according to Marca. BasketNews sources confirm Real's showing interest in Hezonja.

Mario Hezonja was linked with the Royal club a year ago but then their paths did not cross, via the report.

This season, the 27-year-old Croatian averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 14.2 PIR over 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games for UNICS Kazan.

On March 22, Russian clubs were officially excluded from the 2021-22 EuroLeague season due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Before coming to Kazan, Hezonja represented Panathinaikos OPAP Athens jersey. Last campaign, he played 26 games for PAO in the EuroLeague and the Greek league.

The small forward registered 14.4 points in the top European competition (8 contests).

Hezonja (drafted 5th overall in 2015) has also been a member of three NBA teams: Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers. He has NBA career averages of 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over 330 duels.

The Croatian athlete started his professional path in Spain, Barcelona, at the age of 17.

He played in Catalonia until 2015. Mario Hezonja is a two-time ACB league champion (2012, 2014) and Spanish Cup winner in 2013.
