After winning the Greek league title on Friday, Greece and Olympiacos Piraeus legend Georgios Printezis officially announced that he's retiring from professional basketball.
"Thank you from my heart for everything, for the 20 years we spent together," Printezis told fans during the trophy ceremony to Olympiacos.
On this special occasion, his long-time teammate on the court with whom Printezis won back-to-back EuroLeague titles in 2012 and 2013, Vassilis Spanoulis shared a heartwarming message and congratulated Georgios on a fabulous professional path.
"My friend, whatever I say or write about you is too little to express what I feel for you as a friend first and as a teammate afterward. The moments we spent together, our endless conversations, the joys and the sorrows created a lifetime relationship and I am proud of that.
Congratulations on your legendary career! The time has come to enjoy what you have achieved with so much effort. It's time to enjoy your beautiful family," Spanoulis wrote on his Instagram account.
Printezis' career achievements:
- 2x EuroLeague champion (2012, 2013)
- All-EuroLeague First Team (2017)
- EuroLeague 2010-20 all-decade team
- 4x Greek League champion (2012, 2015, 2016, 2022)
- 2x Greek Cup winner (2011, 2022)
- Bronze in EuroBasket 2009
