Ever since leaving Real Madrid for the NBA, talks have been going on about a possible comeback to Europe for Facundo Campazzo.

As a restricted free agent, the Argentinian guard is now in nowhere land regarding his next playing destination. What would it take to see him come back to the EuroLeague? Campazzo sat down to talk with the Argentinian network TN about his life and future aspirations in basketball.

"I never got carried away by money, it was always for my happiness, for the fact of fulfilling a dream. As it happened when I moved from Real Madrid to the United States, it was my dream but I had to analyze many things: my family, what was I losing," the Denver Nuggets point guard told in the interview.

"I tried to think about it as much as possible. I think staying in the NBA goes the same way," he explained. "Outside of basketball, my family adapted very well to life in the United States, these were two very good years. And if they are fine, it leaves me super calm."

The Argentinean point guard has now completed the two seasons he signed up for with the Nuggets back in 2020. The Nuggets can now execute a qualifying offer for 4 million dollars to keep Campazzo in Denver for another year. If they don’t, the guard will be free to join the team of his choice.

"I don't know what I'm going to have available, but I know what's not going to happen," he said about the free agency. "A team isn't going to come to me and say, 'Well, you're the starting point guard' or 'You're going to own the second unit'."

"Maybe the same thing happens as in the previous years when I had to earn a place in the team in the rotation. But I like that, it keeps me alert so I don't fall asleep. From there I will make the best decision," Campazzo explained.

Campazzo is now preparing to play for the Argentinian national team this summer. He admits - training with the squad helps him forget the free agency and the possible hassle of relocating.

"In that sense, yes, it helps a lot," Campazzo explained. "If I were in my house, I would be much more anxious. But strangely I find myself calm, relaxed. Besides, what was within my reach, I've already done it."

"It wouldn't be painful in the least, I don't close any doors. Personally, it would be naive for me to be obsessed with staying in the NBA," the guard said about coming back to Europe. "Maybe I don't even have offers. Real Madrid has always been a second home for me, but I have to wait. The truth is that I have no other choice."

Argentina will play against Venezuela and Panama in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers window on June 30th and July 3rd. Two months later, the squad will travel to Brazil to participate in the AmeriCup 2022, the South American equivalent of EuroBasket.
