Free agent Jalen Brunson intends to sign a 4-year near $110 million deal with the New York Knicks, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Brunson previously declined the Dallas Mavericks' offer of a 4-year, $55.5 million contract extension after the trade deadline. At that time, the guard already believed he could make much more in free agency.
Brunson's father, Rick Brunson, is an assistant coach for the Knicks. Leon Rose, the Knicks' general manager, is a former agent who negotiated the player's rookie contract with the Mavericks, while Rick was his first client as an agent.
Brunson was one of the key figures in the 2022 NBA Playoffs. The guard averaged 21.6 points with notable 41- and 31-point performances in first-round victories over the Utah Jazz while Doncic was sidelined by a strained calf.
During the regular season, Brunson averaged 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
