Alberto Diaz rejoins Spanish NT

The Spanish Basketball Federation announced on Sunday that Alberto Diaz will rejoin the Spanish national team's camp in Madrid. The point guard, who left the team earlier, has fully recovered from an injury.

The national team's head coach, Sergio Scariolo, explained that Diaz is needed to strengthen the point guard position after Sergio Llull's departure from the team due to an injury.

"Alberto Diaz rejoins to strengthen the point guard position, a position that received another hard blow with Sergio Llull's injury," said Scariolo.

"We know that he [Diaz] has been working very well with the club and that he is perfectly recovered and in good shape," added Scariolo.

"He knows perfectly our systems, values ​​and principles. We are confident that, supported by his magnificent work ethic, he can bring his experience and defensive intensity to the team," Scariolo concluded.

After the victory against the Netherlands in Almere, Spain will speed up their preparation in Madrid before heading to Tbilisi (Georgia) next Tuesday, August 30. Spain will debut against Bulgaria at EuroBasket 2022 on Thursday, September 1.
