Rudy Fernandez will participate in his seventh EuroBasket this September. He is by far the most experienced player on the roster with nobody coming particularly close.

He will have almost as many international games under his belt as all other Spanish players combined (288). Sergio Llull, who will miss the championship due to injury, would have been the only other player with more than 100 matches for the national team.

"I continue with the same enthusiasm as when I started and I love working with this group," Fernandez said to Marca. "I always say that wearing the Spanish team shirt is always a source of pride for me, and even more so at this age, because they still trust me and that I can help the team."

With the news of the final 12-men roster being announced, only five players will have had major tournament experience, and one of them, Xavi Lopez-Arostegui, made the team in the Tokyo Olympics only because of Juancho Hernangomez's issue with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"I try to instill in young people what the veterans with whom I have been coinciding all these years have instilled in me for many years," Rudy explained. "I am a calm captain, I joke sometimes but I give a touch of attention when it has to be done."

"I think that this team does not have to have any type of pressure," he continued. "Above all, you just have to enjoy the moment. It's EuroBasket, it's an important competition, for many it is the first time and they have to enjoy this moment because in the end you never know if you will repeat or not."
