Georgian national team star Goga Bitadze will be a game-time decision in the upcoming game against Spain.
"He feels a little pain right now, and he's not practicing [with the team], but doctors hope he will be ready for the game. We'll see," Georgia's press officer Irakli Pertaia confirmed to BasketNews.
Bitadze hurt his ankle at the end of the fourth quarter in an overtime loss against Belgium. At first, the 23-year-old landed awkwardly after trying to get a rebound against Jean-Marc Mwema.
However, Bitadze came back on the court but tweaked his right ankle again with 55 seconds to play, and it was the end of the game for the Indiana Pacers and Georgia forward.
In 31 minutes, Bitadze scored 14 points (5/6 2PT, 0/2 3PT, 4/6 FT), grabbed 9 rebounds, got 3 blocks, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, and accumulated 20 EFF.
Georgia faces Spain in the Tbilisi Arena on Saturday at 19:00 CET. Spain won its first contest against Bulgaria 114-87.
