Mexico stuns United States at Americas Cup opener

In the first game of the American Championship, the US national team suffered an unexpected defeat, losing 73-67 to the Mexicans.

The United States (0-1) started the FIBA AmeriCup with an unexpected failure. In the tournament held in Brazil, the Mexicans (1-0) presented a surprise by defeating the United States national team with a final score of 73-67 (15-14, 21-21, 20-13, 17-19).

In the middle of the third quarter, the Mexicans went on a 13-3 run and gained a tangible lead (49:41).

In the fourth quarter, the representatives of Mexico, who withstood all the attempts of the Americans to break the game, celebrated the victory.

Paul Stoll played led the winning team. The veteran player, who plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv, finished the game with 15 points (1/2 2PT, 3/10 3PT, 4/4 FT), 5 rebounds, and 9 assists for 18 EFF.

Jeremy Pargo,  who is well known to European basketball fans, stood out among the Americans. The 36-year-old guard had 14 points (2/7 2PT, 3/6 3PT, 1/2 FT), 1 rebound, and 6 assists for 10 EFF.

The national teams of Mexico and the United States compete in Group C of the AmeriCup tournament, which also includes the teams of Venezuela and Panama.
