Czech Republic overcomes Israel to punch last ticket to Berlin

The Czech Republic became the last (16th) country that secured a place in the EuroBasket 2022 playoffs by defeating Israel.

One of four host countries at EuroBasket 2022, the Czech Republic (2-3), will be traveling to Berlin for the playoffs stage.

The Czechs defeated Israel (2-3), 88-77 (26-17, 27-20, 14-25, 21-15), in a do-or-die game in Group D and secured fourth place. The team will meet Giannis-led Greece in the Round of 16, while Israel's path is over.

The Czech Republic ran away from Israel in the mid-first quarter after an 11-0 run (24-14). Ronen Ginzburg's men spurted again in the second, and after a 9-0 push, had a 19-point cushion (46-27).

Even though Israel fought back in the second half by cutting their deficit to just 2 points at the start of the fourth quarter (65-67), the Czech Republic got the job done by organizing a crucial 13-0 push. They created a solid 15-point advantage (80-65) and finished the match victoriously.

Tomas Satoransky was the top performer for the winners, posting 14 points (2/7 2PT, 3/4 3PT, 1/2 FT), 8 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 turnovers, 2 steals, and 23 EFF.

Israel: Yam Madar 16 (5 AST), Tomer Ginat 15 (6 REB), Deni Avdija 12 (8 REB, 11 AST), Rafael Menco 12.
