The reigning German champion ALBA Berlin will have to do without the Swede Markus Eriksson for the long term.

According to BasketNews information, the wing will be out for the next 3 to 4 months. The reason for this is the re-emerging inflammation of his right parental tendon, from which he was already suffering in the second half of last season.

Yesterday, he was spotted with a walking boot at his team's preparation game against BBL newcomer Rostock Seawolves.

The 28-year-old Eriksson has been struggling with the persistent right foot injury for a long time. At the end of last season, when Berlin was fighting against Bayern Munich for the German championship, there was speculation whether Eriksson would be able to even make his debut in the final series.

Now, the setback will delay his return to the basketball floor for quite some time.

It was also confirmed to BasketNews that Berlin will not react to the absence of the Sweden player for the time being, because coach Israel Gonzalez can rely on a deep roster anyway.

With newcomer Gabriel Procida on the roster, the temporary replacement for Eriksson is already waiting. The Italian, who was on the extended European Championship list, showed his potential with great energy and distance shooting in the pre-season matches.

In the past, sports director Himar Ojeda and coach Gonzalez have already proven that they can integrate young, highly talented players very quickly even at the EuroLeague level.
