Aito Garcia Reneses will become the oldest coach in the Spanish ACB history on Wednesday, when Girona Basket will face Real Madrid.

Aito Garcia Reneses will become the oldest coach in the history of the Spanish ACB this Wednesday when he will coach Girona Basket against Real Madrid.

On the match day, Reneses will be 75 years, 9 months, and 8 days. The coach already holds the record for the most matches in the history of the competition. 1,077 games in total. Wednesday he will add a new record to his extraordinary career.

The only coach who had coached a team in an ACB match after the age of 70 was Svetislav Pesic, who did so with FC Barcelona.

Reneses will start his twenty-ninth season in the ACB this Wednesday. In those 27 years, he has coached 7 teams: Circol Cotonifici Badalona, Joventut Badalona in two different stages, Barcelona in another two, Unicaja Malaga, Real Betis Seville, Herbalife Gran Canaria, and now Girona.

Reneses returns to the Spanish ACB after coaching Alba Berlin in the German league and the EuroLeague.

Throughout his career, Reneses has won 9 Spanish ACB League titles (which is more than any other coach in the last 40 years of the ACB), 5 Copas del Rey, 2 Korac Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup, one ULEB Cup, and one FIBA ‚Äč‚ÄčEuro Cup, as well as 2 League titles and a Cup in Germany and silver with the Spanish national team at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
