Kevin Punter became the captain of Partizan NIS Belgrade, as Mozzart Sport reports.

The American guard is just the second foreigner in the club's history to receive the prestigious honor.

Until this day, only Frenchman Joffrey Lauvergne was the captain of the Serbian powerhouse. He wore the black-and-white jersey from 2012 to 2014.

Punter will play his first official match as captain of Partizan on Sunday when the EuroLeague team will face Cibona in the first round of the ABA League.

"It's a great honor. Things like that don't happen often," Punter stressed. "I'll do everything I can to be there for Partizan and have a good season."

Then Punter added what he expects from himself as a captain.

"I'm not players' father. I'm not here to tell them what to do, but to get the best out of them, whether on the court or mentally. They know how much I talk to them. I don't need to talk in front of the cameras or the coach.

Teammates turn to me when they need something, I'm here to help them. I have a lot of experience. My door is always open, they can come to talk to me about anything, not just basketball. I can't wait for the season to start," the 29-year-old pointed out.
