Draymond Green offered this week an embarrassing show at a Golden State Warriors preseason practice, in which he hit his teammate Jordan Poole without any explanation.

The veteran forward punched Poole and that sparked a fight Thursday that tarnished the image of the reigning NBA champions in the eyes of basketball fans around the world.

The violent action was recorded in a video that was published on social networks and generated some strong reactions by Internet users, to the point that Green was forced to apologize to all his teammates.

Green, a key player in the four titles won by the Warriors between 2015 and 2022, did not want to talk about it in public and that is why Bob Myers, Warriors' general manager, released his version to the media on Friday. Myers ruled out that there are differences between Golden State basketball players at a press conference.

"Everybody’s fine," Myers told reporters, confirming that Green and Poole had fought. He added that Poole, a shooting guard, attended a team practice Thursday but that Green did not.

"Draymond apologized to the team this morning. Jordan was there in the room, we were - I was there in the room, the team, the coaches, players," he continued.

"Everything is set. In the NBA and in professional sports these things happen. Nobody likes it and we don't approve of it, but it has happened. Draymond Green has apologized in front of the entire team, including Jordan Poole.

I was there with the squad and coaching staff, and we have all heard his words. His apology was accepted and we moved on."

The general manager also said that any punishment or suspensions would be handled internally. When asked about possible tensions within the team, Myers said Thursday that he didn’t see any "lingering awkwardness."

"I've been on teams where people have fought. I've been in gyms where there's been fighting," he said. "No one likes that, but every team has moved past that. I've never seen it ruin a team."

"It's an unfortunate incident, I will not deny it. It will take us a while to leave it behind, but I am sure that we will eventually achieve it. We have a good team, good leaders and several players that have been here a long time," Myers told NBA Maniacs .

"This is not the first time something like this has come up. It's something we've been through before and while it's never pretty, it's part of the league and it's part of the sport," he added.

Myers, who hopes that Golden State will retain the title in the next NBA season, asserted that for the moment no fines will be imposed on the athletes, since both Green and Poole have already clarified their differences.

He's also hopeful that the two will focus on sports activities and have good performances in the season that will start on October 18, in order to help the Warriors consolidate their dynasty.
