Dennis Schroder might not be available for Lakers regular season start

Dennis Schroder has suffered a finger injury and his availability for the NBA season opener against the Golden State Warriors is unclear. He will miss the last preseason game against the Sacramento Kings tonight.

After signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dennis Schroder received praise from head coach Devin Ham. However, the German guard might not be available for the NBA regular season opener.

According to Shams Charania from the Athletic, Schroder has suffered a finger injury and his status for the first match of the 2022-23 NBA season is unclear.

Schroder will not play in the final preseason game against the Sacramento Kings tonight. The player is currently undergoing testing on the severity of the injury and return timetable.

"His performance this summer was nothing short of incredible. It just shows his maturity [in] the way he led his team, not just the points and the stats but his energy, his competitiveness, the way he kept the group together, he kept the group moving forward through the tournament," coach Ham said about the guard several days ago.

During EuroBasket 2022, Schroder averaged 22.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists on 45.1% shooting for Germany. The guard's point average was the best among the Top-4 teams and fifth in the entire tournament.

The Lakers will start their NBA season with a match against the Golden State Warriors Tuesday night.
