Ergin Ataman was ejected near the end of the second quarter after flamboyantly protesting a non-call against Erten Gazi against Darussafaka.
Anadolu Efes Istanbul had to go the entire second half against Darussafaka without their head coach Ergin Ataman yesterday as the Turkish specialist was ejected with a minute remaining in the second quarter.
During a fast break, Erten Gazi attempted a contested layup. Objecting to the no-call on the court, Ataman stormed almost into the middle of the floor, gesturing to the official nearby.
The coach was quickly given his second technical foul of the match and had to be ejected. On his way to the locker room, Ataman was heard shouting 'Bravo, bravo!' for the referees' decision, Milliyet report.
After trailing in the first half against Darussafaka (41-43), Ataman-less Anadolu Efes won both remaining quarters and enjoyed a 10-point win (88-78).
After the victory, Efes will now start getting ready for a double week in the EuroLeague against Valencia Basket and ALBA Berlin, both at home.
