Terry Tarpey suffered a fracture of the third metacarpal bone and will be out of basketball action until the end of 2022, BeBasket.fr reports.

Le Mans forward will undergo surgery this upcoming Friday.

Tarpey sustained a hand injury against Metropolitans 92 last Saturday.

He will not be able to help the French national team in the next FIBA window. France will play its World Cup European Qualifiers games against Lithuania away on November 11, and over Bosnia and Herzegovina at home on November 14.

Tarpey made the 12-man roster for these games. However, coach Vincent Collet will have to replace him with another player.

France is currently 2nd in Group K with 6 wins and 2 losses.

The 28-year-old Tarpey became a pleasant surprise of FIBA EuroBasket 2022. He was instrumental in France's silver-medal journey in the continental championship.

Tarpey averaged 5.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 11.4 EFF, and had a crucial defensive contribution over nine EuroBasket games.
