Galatasaray ink scoring ace Tyrus McGee

Israeli league champion Tyrus McGee has joined Turkish side Galatasaray until the end of the season.

Galatasaray Nef Istanbul reached an agreement with Tyrus McGee, who last played with the Fujian Sturgeons in China. The deal is valid until the end of the 2022-23 season.

McGee, 31, was born in Oklahoma. After completing his education at Cowley College and Iowa State University, he transferred to Spain's Baloncesto Breogan at the beginning of the 2013-14 season. Continuing his career in Germany and Italy in the following years, he won the Italian Championship with Umana Reyer Venezia in the 2016-17 season.

He made a significant contribution to the championship run with 9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 40 Serie A matches.

McGee then spent the first half of the 2018-19 season with Afyon Belediyespor, averaging 13.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists. In the second half of the season, he won the FIBA ​​Europe Cup with Dinamo Sassari.

However, it was with Hapoel Holon that the prolific scorer made his big splash. He  averaged 18.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 20 BCL games in the 2020-21 season. One year later, after a short stint with San Pablo Burgos, he returned to Israel and his former team to lead Holon to the Israeli league title and to the BCL semis. 

He tallied 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 56.5% FG, 44.3% three-point shooting in 20 Israeli League games, and was transferred to the Chinese League at the beginning of this season.
