Panathinaikos Athens easily defeated Karditsa in the Greek League yesterday. However, the match revealed some worrisome news.

According to SDNA, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis suffered from back spasms during the match and his condition is currently uncertain. There will be additional tests done today to determine the extent of the injury.

Kalaitzakis already suffered from discomfort in his back after the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers game against Belgium last week but he pushed through, only aggravating the injury.

The Greek guard is not the only one sidelined with a back injury in Panathinaikos. Marius Grigonis left the EuroLeague game against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul last week due to back pain and did not return. The Lithuanian did not compete against Karditsa on Sunday, and his return timeline is unclear as well.

The situation might be impacted by the fact that the team doesn't have to travel this week as two home games are around in the EuroLeague against Virtus Segafredo Bologna and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on Wednesday and Friday respectively.
