Ryan impressed in his stint with L.A., shooting 38.2 percent from three-point one, including a clutch shot in the win over the New Orleans Pelicans in November.
Per the report, the move opens up a roster spot for the Lakers ahead of Dec. 15 trade date.
The 25-year-old player averaged 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds over 11 games this season.
He landed in Los Angeles after bouncing between the G League (Grand Rapids Gold, Maine Celtics) and NBA (Boston Celtics).
The Lakers have an 8-12 record and sit in 13th place in the Western Conference.
