Darrun Hilliard's former teammate Othello Hunter says, "it's very rare to see a guy with great character and work ethic get suspended by his team."
Yesterday Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv officially announced that the club suspended Darrun Hilliard following unspecified recent events.
His suspension serves for the upcoming training sessions and the next EuroLeague match against his former team FC Bayern Munich (December 2, 20:30 CET).
EuroLeague veteran Othello Hunter, with whom Hilliard played in Germany last season, defended his former teammate on Twitter, saying that it's an unusual scenario "to see a guy with great character get suspended by his team."

"Wow! Now, this is crazy I tell you. How are you gonna suspend my guy, Darrun Hilliard? Someone must really be in their feelings for sure. It's very rare to see a guy with great character and work ethic get suspended by his team. God knows everything, my guy," Hunter wrote under the Eurohoops' Twitter post.

According to Israeli media outlets, Maccabi took the decision after Hilliard's tweet following the Israeli league loss to Hapoel Jerusalem, 75-80.
"Real eyes recognize real lies," the 29-year-old tweeted a few hours after the game and later deleted the tweet.
The American wing played 12 minutes and scored one point.
Per Moses Barda of One, Maccabi head coach Oded Kattash thought this tweet was directed to him and didn't allow Hilliard to come to the practice.
"Just so you know… I love you guys, The Gate, TLV, and all of Maccabi! Truly," Hilliard tweeted later.
Hilliard averages 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 4.3 PIR over six EuroLeague games this season.
