Maccabi Tel Aviv big man Alex Poythress suffered an injury that might force him to miss the entire 2022-23 EuroLeague season.

According to BasketNews sources, a 29-year-old American is expected to undergo surgery for a torn wrist ligament and is likely to miss from 4 to 6 months. The club later officially confirmed the information.

Poythress played through an injury for more than a month.

A 2.06 m Poythress knew he would be sidelined for months but sacrificed for the team and decided to play against Bayern on Friday because of the other significant Maccabi absences in Munich.

Oded Kattash didn't have Wade Baldwin and Darrun Hilliard on his squad.

Poythress averaged 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 26 minutes of EuroLeague action.

He was third in minutes played on the Maccabi roster, behind only Lorenzo Brown and Wade Baldwin. Poythress started in all 11 appearances.

"One" reports Maccabi will enter the market to upgrade the frontline. Poythress joined Maccabi on a two-year deal.

The Yellows lost 5 of their last 6 games and currently rank 9th in the EuroLeague standings.
