Olympiacos break multiple records in demolishing win against Virtus

Olympiacos broke its scoring, assists, and PIR records and tied for 3-pointers made in a 117-71 win against Virtus.

Olympiacos Piraeus (8-4) demolished Virtus Segafredo Bologna (4-8) and broke multiple records on the way to a convincing 117-71 (31-15, 30-20, 23-20, 33-16) victory.

With 117 points, Olympiacos broke the club's all-time scoring record. Previously, the Reds scored 113 points against Petrol Olimpija in 2007.

Moreover, Giorgos Bartzokas' squad also recorded the best number in PIR. Tonight, Olympiacos accumulated 160 PIR. The previous record was 142.

Olympiacos also made 33 assists, breaking the old record of 29 assists.

The Reds also tied the record in made 3-pointers. Tonight, Olympiacos converted 18 of 31 3-pointers (58%).

They were very close to recording the biggest win in the club's history in EuroLeague. Back in the 2010-11 season, Olympiacos beat Sienna Montepaschi 89-41.

However, the Greek powerhouse tied for the biggest win in the EuroLeague since the 2012-13 season. Real Madrid beat Anadolu Efes 103-57 (2013-14 season), while Bayern destroyed Darussafaka Istanbul 116-70 (2018-19 season).

The biggest overall win in EuroLeague history belongs to Sienna Montepaschi, that won against Buducnost 112-49 (2002-03 season).

Olympiacos took control of the game from the very beginning and built a 16-point lead in the first quarter (31-15). The game was done in the second period as the hosts were leading 54-25.

The Reds also made 22 of 29 2-pointers (76%), while Virtus converted only 5 of 16 3-pointers (31%). The Italian club also made 20 turnovers.

Sasha Vezenkov led Olympiacos, as he accumulated 19 points (3/4 2PT, 4/5 3PT, 1/1 FT), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 20 PIR in just 16 minutes of playing time.

Meanwhile, Semi Ojeleye suffered an apparent leg injury in the first quarter.

The American player was running back on defense and made a slight jump after one of the steps. Ojeleye was passively standing in the corner during the next Virtus attack.

Moments later, Ojeleye was substituted and immediately headed to the locker room, holding his head in his hands.
