Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade recently got into trouble not only in the EuroLeague but in the ABA League as well. The club's youngster Nikola Topic was suspended from competition for a violation of the league's rules.

Topic was announced to have transferred to FMP Beograd on January 4th. However, he was registered for Zvezda's EuroLeague match against Valencia Basket last Friday (January 6th).

The league proceeded to cancel the player's registration and ultimately banned him from appearing on the court for any team in the competition this season for playing in two different teams at the same, albeit in different competitions.

The Spanish team has now sent a written notice to the EuroLeague regarding the case, according to Encestando. Valencia would like to know if it was correct to register Topic for the match and whether he was still under contract with the Serbian club at that time.

If the move was unlawful, Crvena Zvezda would face possible sanctions once again.

Topic has since been removed from the team's roster in the EuroLeague.

The player's agent Misko Raznatovic announced today that the prospect will be joining OKK Belgrade, a team that plays in the Serbian Basketball League (KLS). The team is currently placed 12th in the competition.
