Three days after the NBA match between Detroit and Chicago, Paris Basketball settle this Sunday at the Accor Arena for the duel vs. reigning French champs LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.

A new clash between the current French representative in the EuroLeague and the one who aims to join them very quickly. Over the last weeks, the club's future in the top European competition has become a frequently discussed topic.

In his recent interview with BasketNews, acting EuroLeague CEO Marshall Glickman didn't hide that London and Paris are the two markets targetted by EuroLeague. In fact, Glickman will attend Sunday's LNB game, in a move that could be interpreted as another sign.

The Arena La Chapelle, on the border between Paris and Seine Saint Denis, is scheduled to open in 2023, and Paris Basketball will move in as its resident club as soon as it does. This multipurpose venue will be between Porte de la Chapelle and Porte d’Aubervilliers, in the north of Paris.

"Our new arena will accommodate between 8,000 and 8,500 spectators," Mathias Priez, Paris Basketball Director of Operations told Le Parisien.

"We are close to 10,000 and, in the big games, we can always go to the Accor Arena. It seems possible to do that 4-5 times every year," Priez said.

"If the Euroleague expands, it would be an opportunity for us. Of course, this will force us to increase our budget, create a new economic model, and find new partners, but it is in everyone's interest. The club has always been ready when necessary, this has been the case for the EuroCup and it will still be the case if we are offered a EuroLeague spot.

We are used to adapting. We know what to do," Priez concluded.
