Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz have suspended Pierria Henry's contract due to an issue with an anti-doping control test the player performed.

FIBA has suspended the player's license and opened a file on the guard but it wasn't caused by a positive test result, the Spanish club announced in a statement yesterday.

The suspension arrives "from a procedural manner", Baskonia wrote. The exact issue might be already known.

According to Ivan Benito from El Correo, FIBA suspects Henry used a fake sample during his test.

Benito writes that an inconclusive result came from the test, causing FIBA to suspend the player for the foreseeable future. In particular, El Correo notes that the organization suspects Baskonia's player used synthetic urine.

If the suspicions are proven to be correct, Henry might risk his basketball license being taken away from him for numerous years or even for life.

After arriving at the end of October, Henry was one of the leading players of the Baskonia roster, averaging 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals for 14 PIR in the EuroLeague.

With 11 wins and 9 losses, the Spanish club currently sits 7th in the EuroLeague standings. The team welcomes the reigning tournament's champions Anadolu Efes Istanbul at home on Friday, who also share the same record as the hosts.
