After news came out about him possibly selling his majority shares in the LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne organization, Tony Parker decided to address the rumors.

The former San Antonio Spurs great has called a shareholders meeting where he confirmed that he indeed intends to sell his shares in the basketball club, L'Equipe writes.

However, the club's majority owner is not going to step down from the team entirely. Instead, he plans to remain in the organization as the president.

"I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying at ASVEL. To understand my thinking, my goal is to bring ASVEL as high as possible," Parker said.

As previously reported, the NBA legend would indeed like to sell his share to the Franco-Israeli businessman Serge Bueno, currently at the helm of a company named 'Smart Good Things', of which Tony Parker has been a partner since April 2022.

"[Smart Good Things] have issued the possibility of taking actions to help the club go up. For the good of the club, I am ready to do this but doing it in agreement with LDLC and OL (Olympique Lyonnais), while taking into consideration all the shareholders, including the mayor of Villeurbanne, who were all very important at one point in this project," Parker explained.

Parker took over the club in 2014. In nine years, ASVEL have won four French titles, and three in the last three years.
