After unsuccessful negotiations with Pablo Laso and Xavi Pasqual, Anadolu Efes Istanbul are reportedly looking into the candidacies of Andrea Trinchieri and Ioannis Sfairopoulos, who has arrived in Turkey for talks with the club.
After two EuroLeague title wins in his tenure, Anadolu Efes Istanbul's head coach Ergin Ataman will leave the organization to lead Panathinaikos Athens. As a result, the Turkish club is already making moves regarding its future.
It was previously reported that Pablo Laso and Xavi Pasqual were frontrunners to take the vacant job. However, with Laso agreeing to coach FC Bayern Munich, the picture has changed.
The club reportedly hasn't progressed in the negotiations with Pasqual as quickly as they initially hoped. Now, a new candidate has appeared on the horizon.
According to Burak Alaca from Ajansspor, former Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv specialist Ioannis Sfairopoulos is considered a candidate to replace Ataman. The journalist notes that the Greek coach has already arrived in Istanbul for negotiations.
With Laso continuing his career in Munich, the candidacy of Andrea Trinchieri is also considered by Efes, the outlet writes.
