After the departures of coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and star Nikola Mirotic, Barcelona decided to invest heavily in local talent. Willy Hernangomez, Joel Parra, and Dario Brizuela will form the building block of Spanish talent that will lead the team into a new era.

Per Thomas Walkup, Olympiacos players were aware of the concerns that were bothering Kostas Sloukas, but they tried to get everyone on the same page in achieving their goals without trying to influence his decision regarding his future in Piraeus.

Luka Doncic was named the Slovenian national team captain for FIBA World Cup 2023: "I am honored. It's a proud moment." Doncic also stressed that Slovenia will fight for gold in the tournament: "Every time we go to a championship, the goal is to win it."
