Germany remains perfect in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and after a 100-71 win vs. Slovenia goes to Manilla with a perfect 5-0 record. However, a heated timeout in 1st quarter between Dennis Schroder and head coach Gordon Herbert raised some eyebrows.

Schroder initially engaged in a one-on-one conversation with Daniel Theis, seemingly disregarding what coach Gordon Herbert had to say during a timeout.

"Get down!" Herbert said while grabbing Schroder by the shoulder after seeing him and Theis being involved.

"Hey, coach, chill out!" Schroder responded.

"No, you don't tell me what to do, I have a timeout," Herbert replied.

After the timeout, Schroder remained on the bench but returned to the court later and produced a solid performance of 24 points (4/4 2PT, 4/7 3PT, 4/5 FT), 10 assists, 2 rebounds, and 31 EFF.

After the game, BasketNews asked Schroder what happened between him and Herbert, but the Toronto Raptors guard explained the part, involving him and Theis.

"I mean, basketball is an emotional sport," Schroder told BasketNews. "It's a game of runs, and you gotta stay cool. Me and Daniel go way back, I have known him since I was 12 or 13. We had those kinds of moments when we were young as well, but it always helped us to elevate our game."

"That's what happened today. We got into it, and I told him, 'Listen, that's what you gotta do, and you can tell me the same thing.' Of course, he's going to be pissed a little bit. It will itch a little bit, but he will give his all. I think that's what happened.

He helped us big time defensively and offensively, and we won against one of the best teams in the World Cup," Schroder continued.

Meanwhile, Herbert was also asked about the incident during the press conference. Just like Schroder, the 64-year-old talked about Scroder's conversation with Theis.

"I just think Daniel and Dennis were talking about their young days in Braunschweig," Herbert answered with a joke.

After being specified that everyone wanted to know about his conversation with Schroder, Herbert didn't elaborate too much.

"I subbed him out," Herbert replied how he dealt with the situation. "I subbed Daniel and Dennis out."

Will there be consequences and further conversation with Schroder?

"It will be handled internally," Herbert concluded.
