The American forward, who's on an expiring contract, is expected to leave Virtus Bologna after spending four years with the club. Weems, though, might remain in Italy as he's receiving strong interest from another Legabasket side.
Last night with a win over Derthona Basket, Virtus Segafredo Bologna secured a spot in the Italian league finals for the third year in a row. Bologna will face Olimpia Milan in a rematch of last year's finals when Milan prevailed 4-2 in the series.
With the current season coming to an end, the future of certain players is getting clearer. Kyle Weems, who has been playing with Virtus Bologna for the past four years, is set to leave the club at the end of the season, multiple sources have told BasketNews.
The American wing is on an expiring deal and the two sides won't continue together. Since he joined the club in the 2019-20 season, Weems has become a fan-favorite in Bologna and has played an important role in the previous seasons.
This year, though, his role has diminished, and the player has been out of the playoff rotations in the Italian league.
Weems played in 29 EuroLeague games this season, averaging 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

Since he joined Virtus Bologna, Weems has won two Italian Supercups, one Italian league, and a EuroCup with the club.
While the player is expected to leave Virtus Bologna, there's a strong feeling that he might remain in Italy.
Derthona Basket, a team that is destined to make its European debut in the upcoming Basketball Champions League campaign, is currently considered the frontrunner to sign the player, once he becomes a free agent, multiple sources have told BasketNews.
Derthona was promoted to the Italian top division only last season but since its arrival in the top flight, it has become a constant presence among the higher positions of the table.
For the second year in a row, Derthona has reached the semifinals of the league, and last season, they also played in the final of the Italian Cup.
Virtus Bologna is looking with interest at the situation of Ognjen Dobric, who's on an expiring deal with Crvena Zvezda, sources have told BasketNews.
As was anticipated by Telesport.rs, Dobric has already received a contract extension offer from the Serbian but the interest from other EuroLeague clubs, including Virtus, might complicate that deal.
