Bursaspor loses its main sponsor Frutti Extra

Frutti Extra announced that it ended its sponsorship with the Bursaspor basketball club.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor will face a new era, as the main team's sponsor, Frutti Extra, announced that it ended its sponsorship with the Turkish club.

The Uludag beverage company that holds the rights to Frutti Extra released the statement, confirming that the company leaves the main sponsorship role that lasted from 2019.

Bursaspor was founded in 2014 and, after beginning its journey in the 3rd Turkish basketball division, reached the 1st division in 2019.

In 2021, Bursaspor made its debut in the European basketball competition, joining EuroCup. 

Last season, Bursaspor made plenty of noise, reaching the EuroCup final after eliminating Partizan in the Round of 16.

This season, Bursaspor finished EuroCup regular season with an 8-10 record, which was good enough for the 8th seed and a place in the playoffs. However, the Turkish club was eliminated by Tenerife in the first round of the playoffs.

In the Turkish league, Bursaspor finished in 5th place.

Bursaspor's general manager Nedim Yucel also left his position recently, joining Besiktas.

Even though head coach Dusan Alimpijevic still has a contract, his future with the club is also uncertain.

Ismail Senol from beIN Sports reports that it would be a miracle if the Serbian coach remains with the team. Senol adds that Onuralp Bitim, alongside many other players, is also expected to leave the club.
