The game against Cote d'Ivoire marked the fifth World Cup for Rudy Fernandez, tying a 21-year-old record that previously belonged to Jerome Alfred Mincy from Puerto Rico.
Spanish national team's winger Rudy Fernandez scored just 5 points in an easy win against Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday, but it was enough to tie a FIBA World Cup record.
It was the fifth World Cup tournament for the 38-year-old in his career, tying a competition record.
Fernandez has now played in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2019, and 2023 editions of the World Cup.

The first to appear in five different such tournaments was Jerome Alfred Mincy from Puerto Rico, who played in 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, and 2002.
Fernandez made his debut for the Spanish squad almost 20 years ago in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, where he averaged 5.1 points per game. His most successful tournament came in 2010 when he averaged 15.6 points and 6 rebounds for 20.1 PIR.
The veteran player has won two gold medals in the FIBA World Cup (2006, 2019) and 4 EuroBasket golds (2009, 2011, 2015, 2022). Fernandez hasn't been able to capture Olympic gold in his career yet, finishing second with Spain twice (2008, 2012).
