Martin Hermannsson took the court last March following nine months of recovery. The point guard of Valencia Basket had suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the losing effort in Game 3 of the 2021-22 ACB quarterfinal series against Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.

At the end of the second quarter, Hermannsson was carried off the floor by the medical staff. He averaged 8.7 points, 1.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 9.8 PIR over 20 EuroCup games, in addition to 10.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 9.9 PIR in 27 ACB matches that season.

While the player from Iceland had seemingly recovered, things went south for him again during the preseason. The guard from Reykjavík will undergo surgery again, as Valencia Basket announced through an official statement.

Position: PG
Age: 28
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 77 kg
Birth place: Reykjavik, Iceland

Hermannsson will need to remove some loose tissue from his left knee as a result of a chondral injury. The player had not been part of the first team's training sessions in recent days and did not accompany the squad to the two friendly matches played over the weekend in Galicia due to the pain caused by the injury.

Hence, Alex Mumbru will be left with Chris Jones and Guillem Ferrando in the point guard position, with Chris Harper potentially offering a helping hand if needed.
