Marcus Eriksson signed a one-year extension with ALBA Berlin, as Himar Ojeda, the German team's sports director, said.
ALBA Berlin are holding onto hope for the return of sharpshooter Marcus Eriksson, the Swedish wing who has been sidelined for over a year and a half due to several injuries.
Himar Ojeda, the German team's sports director, expressed his optimism, saying, "I really hope and wish that he can come back again. We wanted to give him this chance."
According to an article published in Zeit.de, Eriksson's deal, which had expired in the summer, was extended for another year.
"We gave him a contract for one year," Ojeda said, per Zeit.de. "It's a win-win situation."
The 29-year-old Eriksson has been grappling with persistent foot problems that have repeatedly hindered his recovery. Fortunately, there were signs of improvement towards the end of the last season.
"I was close to making a comeback at the end of the season, and then I was unlucky again," the player referred to a knee injury that required surgery.
Despite the setbacks, Eriksson maintains his optimism, saying, "I'm glad that I can continue to try it here. It's too early to give up."
Eriksson last played in the EuroLeague on January 20, 2022.
