Achille Polonara will undergo adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery for testicular cancer, keeping him out of competition for at least four weeks.
Virtus Segafredo Bologna have officially announced that Achille Polonara is set to commence a cycle of adjuvant chemotherapy in the coming days.
This necessary step will keep him away from competitions for a minimum of four weeks.
Following this period, his potential return to the group will be re-evaluated, as mentioned in the official report. In the interim, Polonara will resume individual training.
The 31-year-old Italian underwent surgery earlier this month to address a testicular neoplasm, commonly known as testicular cancer.
Polonara displayed resilience by participating in the 2023-24 EuroLeague opener against Zalgiris Kaunas. In the game, he contributed with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block in 10 minutes of play.
Polonara joined Virtus on a 2-year deal this past summer, following the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign with Zalgiris.
