Turkish international Metecan Birsen has returned to playing basketball again for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul after suffering a long-term injury.

The forward made his return against Manisa Buyuksehir Belediye Sports Club in the Turkish Basketball Super League, logging in for the first time in the first quarter.

Birsen had picked up a major injury on his right knee towards the end of the 2022-23 season and had remained sidelined since then. In a playoff game against Anadolu Efes Istanbul, the forward had suffered from a partial posterior cruciate ligament tear.

The Turkish international enjoyed increased minutes in the 2022-23 season under Dimitris Itoudis, logging 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8 minutes and 47 seconds of playing time.
