Gran Canaria are considered the frontrunners to sign Tobey.
After a year in Serbia, Mike Tobey is about to move back to Spain.
According to Chema de Lucas from Relevo, the former Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade big man is set to join Dreamland Gran Canaria.
The 29-year-old American recently parted ways with Crvena Zvezda. Initially seen as one of the main big men on the roster, Tobey didn't live up to the expectations as Joel Bolomboy blossomed in his main center role.
Ultimately, Tobey averaged just 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds for 2.8 PIR in the EuroLeague. Gillespie's numbers in the top European competition were similar - 2.5 points and 1.9 rebounds for 2.7 PIR.
Before joining Crvena Zvezda last summer, Tobey had spent his entire international career in Europe, playing for teams in Spain. First, he played for Lenovo Tenerife, then joined Valencia Basket, where he made his name. The last Tobey's stop before Crvena Zvezda was with FC Barcelona.
