Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens forward Ioannis Papapetrou will not play for Greece in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.
Bad news for Greece as Ioannis Papapetrou of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens will miss the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.
As reported in Greek media, Papapetrou wants to recover from the knee surgery that he had in the season. That is why he is skipping national team duty.
Vassilis Spanoulis, who coaches Greece, has opted to replace Papapetrou with Eleftherios Mantzoukas, another player from PAO.

Previously, it was reported that Nikos Rogkavopoulos would also be missing national team duty. Such a situation drastically limits Spanoulis's options for the small forward position.
Ioannis Papapetrou missed a large part of the season for PAO, but his return right before the playoffs has had important positive effects on the Greens' 2023-24 EuroLeague championship.
Greece is set to face off against Egypt and the Dominican Republic in Group B as they start on their quest for a spot in the Paris Olympics, with their journey kicking off on July 3rd.
