Juancho Hernangomez will miss out on Spain's clash with Finland in Valencia's OQT semis.
Spain's road to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is going through the clash against Finland (20:30 CET) and the hypothetical final against the Bahamas.
Coach Sergio Scariolo can only count on 11 players since Juancho Hernangomez isn't avaialble. His adductor injury puts him out of action. The 28-year-old forward played 8 minutes in Spain's win over Lebanon in the group stage. He scored 2 points off a couple of free throws, grabbed 2 rebounds and dished out one assist.
"He won't play. In the 2022 EuroBasket against Finland, he helped us a lot in the outside shooting," explained Scariolo. Spain won that quarter-final contest 100-90, as Rudy Fernandez scored 15 points.
Even though Finland's superstar Lauri Markkanen is also missing, Scariolo is giving his team's rivals a lot of credit.
"They refuse to lose despite being behind. They know how to recover with coolness, good decision-making and success in the final minutes," he explained. "We must be solid, defend the ball and not lose ourselves in unnecessary assists."
