Giannis Antetokounmpo will make his Olympic debut as Greece's flag bearer at the 2024 Paris Games.
The Hellenic Olympic Committee has selected Giannis Antetokounmpo (basketball) and Antigoni Drisbioti (race walk) to lead the athletes' parade and be the flag bearers for Greece at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Giannis recently guided Greece to the Olympics during the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Piraeus, where his team defeated Croatia 80-69 in the final. In that game, Antetokounmpo scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Throughout the tournament, he averaged 22.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists for 23.0 EFF per game over three appearances.
This will be Giannis' first Olympics, as Greece has qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time since 2008 in Beijing. They will meet Canada, Australia, and Spain in the Olympic Basketball Tournament Group A.
'Greek Freak' comes to Paris as a two-time NBA MVP (2019, 2020) and a 2021 NBA champion.
