Johannes Thiemann, one of the top breakthrough players in the EuroLeague, is set to continue his career in Japan, sources tell BasketNews.
According to BasketNews sources, the 30-year-old German big man is expected to leave ALBA Berlin and the EuroLeague for a lucrative deal in the Japan B.League.
The new club is yet to be confirmed.
Thiemann averaged 12.7 points (53.1% 2FG, 34.4% 3FG), 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 16.4 PIR in 25 minutes per game in the EuroLeague.
He ranked 11th in efficiency, 23rd in scoring, and 15th in rebounding last EuroLeague season.
Thiemann also became a World Champion with the German national team in 2023.
During the gold medal run, he averaged 7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and an 11.9 EFF in 18.5 minutes per game.
He also contributed to the German national team's bronze-medal campaign in the 2022 EuroBasket.
The 2.05-meter-tall player served as the captain of ALBA Berlin last season.
Thiemann has been with Berlin since 2018, with previous experience at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and Brose Bamberg.
