Steve Kerr earned his first medal as the head coach of Team USA during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The Golden State Warriors specialist might not stay on the coaching staff much longer.

According to Evan Sidery from Forbes, Kerr is likely to step down from his position, and a new head coach should take over the team for the upcoming 4-year cycle before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Kerr's assistant, Eric Spoelstra, is named as the most likely candidate to take over the team.

Kerr was named the head coach of Team USA in December 2021. Under Kerr, Team USA placed fourth in the 2023 FIBA World Cup last year, losing three games in the competition - a first for the US in an international tournament since the infamous 2004 Athens Olympics.

The Warriors coach joked about stepping down from his position in the post-game interview with Eurosport after winning gold.

"I'm going to announce my retirement right now," he jokingly said after being asked about seemingly having accomplished everything a head coach would want to.
